  On 05/19/2013 at approximately 4:00PM, my wife, son and I stopped at CVS to pick up beer and perhaps get a movie at the RedBox outside. My wife brought her brand of beer to the counter and I brought mine. The cashier observed this, as there was only one person ahead of us. My wife stated that she would go check the RedBox while I paid, handing my son her beer to hold until counter space became available. My beer never left my hands. At this point the cashier loudly stated that my son had “better have his ID.” I responded that he wasn’t buying anything but was assisting his mother. The cashier insisted that unless he had ID, we would not be able to make a purchase. My son is 21, but unfortunately did not have his ID. At this point I decided there was no point in further discussion. I stated that as my own beer was never out of my hand, I’d purchase that and we would pick up my wife’s beer elsewhere. The cashier stated that due to the fact that my son had held my wife’s beer, we would be prohibited from buying any alcohol period. Feeling a bit embarrassed as there were others around, and deeming the situation to be ridiculous, I asked for the manager. The cashier advised me that she was in fact the manager, which I found difficult to believe as she had no name tag on and as a regular shopper, I have never seen her. In retrospect I should have asked to speak to another employee, but my family understandably wanted to leave without further embarrassment. CVS has lost this customer.
